22 SNES games data mined on the Nintendo Switch Online App

NEWS.pngSo it’s fair to say that Nintendo Switch Online isn’t the most popular service, especially if the Youtube likes to dislikes ratio is anything to go by. However, a recent data mine might be about to change things.

Nintendo Switch data miner Kapu recently discovered data for 22 SNES games hidden on the Nintendo Switch Online app, getting people very excited over the possibility of Super Nintendo games finally making their way to the online service.

The full list of SNES games is:

  1. Super Mario Kart
  2. Super Soccer
  3. Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past
  4. Demon’s Crest
  5. Yoshi’s Island
  6. Stunt Race FX
  7. Kirby’s Dream Course
  8. Pop’nTwinbee
  9. Star Fox
  10. Contra 3
  11. Kirby Super Star
  12. Super Ghouls ‘n Ghosts
  13. Kirby’s Dream Land 3
  14. Super Metroid
  15. Super Mario World
  16. Pilotwings
  17. F-ZERO
  18. Star Fox 2
  19. Super Punch-Out!!
  20. The Legend of the Mystical Ninja
  21. Super Mario All-Stars
  22. Breath of Fire 2

That is one very nice lists of games, a lot better than the NES games we currently have on the service. No offence to the 8–bit titles, however I am a much bigger fan of the 16-bit era.

I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that as well. For once, people have actually been somewhat positive towards the Online service. I have seen so many people say that they will get the service because of the SNES games, which is great for the games that require an online player base to survive.

So SNES games would be a great addition, and it now looks like they are definitely happening. All we need to know is when.

Because of the data already being in the app, I wouldn’t be too surprised to see them a lot sooner than we would have initially expected. I could potentially see them being announced in a January direct, and then be launched maybe as soon as February. I know that sounds crazy, however I feel Nintendo desperately wants people to join Switch Online and wants to get SNES games out asap.

But even if they don’t release that quickly, I still can’t wait to see some of these titles to hit the Switch. I love the SNES library and it will be fantastic to play classic titles, such as Link to the Past and Super Metroid, on my Switch. But until then…

That’s it.
